The Baltimore City Fire Department said a woman that was reported missing at the Patapsco Wastewater Treatment Plant was found dead in the water, Monday evening. Pneumatic Relief Tent
Fire officials said employees realized the DPW supervisor was missing and remembered seeing her walk across a catwalk that sits above the water filtration system. Fire officials said they went to investigate and found a grate on the catwalk was missing.
"After some time, they didn't see their supervisor and they went looking for her. They noticed the grate was missing there were two items that belonged to her that were in the location where the missing grate was -- a glove and a walkie talkie. They immediately started looking for her," said Blair Adams, spokeswoman for the Baltimore City Fire Department.
Around 8 p.m., the woman's body was found in the water of the filtration system.
The woman was as a supervisor in the city's Department of Public Works for three years and a city employee for at least 20 years. The woman was also a previous employee of the month.
Jeff Raymond from DPW said he is not aware of any complaints about that catwalk, but he said they've launched a full investigation and will do inspections at all their locations.
