Applied Industrial Technologies has hired Jon Ploetz has as vice president, general counsel and secretary, the Cleveland-based industrial distributor and service provider announced Tuesday, March 28.

Ploetz will lead the company's global legal affairs, governance and compliance activities, ESG efforts, and corporate secretary duties, the company stated. He succeeds Fred Bauer, who elected to retire effective Jan. 31 after 30 years of service to the company. Bauer, who remained as the company's secretary throughout the replacement search, will leave the company March 31. Steel Slitter

Prior to joining Applied Industrial, Ploetz was vice president and assistant general counsel and assistant corporate secretary for Harsco Corp. in Pennsylvania.

Ploetz holds a bachelor's degree in statistics and management from Luther College in Iowa and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Colorado School of Law. He is a member of several professional groups, including the Society for Corporate Governance and the National Association of Corporate Directors.
